Critique (n.): a critical review

WHO AM I?

WHY DO YOU NEED A CRITIQUE?

  • As a writer, you know what you intend to communicate, making it hard to see how your words on paper work together when someone else reads them for the first time.
  • Nothing can replace an objective reader to help you find places your manuscript can improve.

WHAT YOU'LL RECEIVE FROM A CRITIQUE

  • You may choose between a basic or full critique, according to where you are in the writing process. The basic critique offers a summary of your manuscript in paragraph form, while the full critique inserts comments throughout the manuscript. Follow the links for samples.
  • You will receive an objective analysis tailored for fiction or non-fiction, depending on your manuscript. Non-fiction manuscripts receive comments on organization and flow, and tone and style. Critiques for fiction manuscripts focus on plot and pacing, characters, setting, and writing style.
  • Your personalized critique will go further than pointing out flaws to give you specific guidance to improve your work.
  • You may follow-up by e-mail to clarify points once you receive your critique.
